Today in Mr. Schick's class we played a game where we tried to successfully build a pyramid. It took me a while but eventually I was able to build a pyramid. It took so long because there were so many different variables such as what to build the pyramid out of, where to build it, and what angle to make it at. It took me about 5 or 6 tries before I was able to complete it.

One major technological advancement was building Tombs instead of pyramids. These tombs were carved into a rock wall and usually had amazing art of the afterlife drawn in them. After one was built all of the other pharaohs followed and created the Valley of the Kings. Another technological advancement was the production of Egyptian paper. This was huge because now they were able to keep stories and write down history. A third major technological advancement was the invention of medicine. There is evidence that some men in Ancient Egypt were physicians. This is a big deal because they were able to then heal people and try to cure illnesses. Another technological advancement was the calendar. This let the Egyptians know that there is 365 days in a year and it also helped them to figure out that there's 12 months with 30 days. One last technological advancements the use of gold as a superpower and as a currency.

Today we went over our test scores on Guns, Germs, and Steel. I got a 93 on it. This is because I got one question wrong and I didn't write the honor pledge. We also went over more about Egypt. Such as when the Sphinx was made and what it is. Lastly, we went over the different social classes like the Pharoah or the Scribes.

Today in Mr. Schick's class we finished watching Guns, Germs, and Steel. After that we reviewed what we learned and we also went over some questions that would be on the test. An example of a question is how many large mammals have been domesticated. The answer was 14 out of 148. Another question is what are the 3 main reasons civilizations advance. The answer was advanced technology, large population, and well organized workforce.

Today in Mr. Schick's class we continued watching Guns, Germs, and Steel. We learned that one main reason that some civilizations didn't move forward is because of where they are geographically. It basically is just about the luck of the draw. Also, we learned that Asia's main crop was rice, America's main crop was corn, and New Guinea didn't have any crops really. Lastly, we learned that out of 148 mammals that are over 100 pounds only 14 have been domesticated.
