Today we continued to take notes on Ancient Greece. After we review Greece's geography we went over the different people that lived there. The first to live there were the Mycenaeans. Mycenae is located on a rocky ridge and is protected by a 20 foot thick wall. They dominated Greece from 1600-1200 BCE. After the Mycenaeans were the "sea people" or the Dorians. They came in and burnt down everyones palaces and just lived in war-torn Greece. Once they took over writing disappeared and storytelling was the only way of keeping track of past history. That was when Homer the Storyteller came into play. He was the one who created the story of the Odyssey and the Iliad.
